TIPS FOR REMOVING A TAN NATURALLY




What is tanning?

It is our body’s way of protecting our skin from the sun. When we get exposed to the sun, we also get exposed to UV rays. So, to protect our skin from the UV radiations, melanin (responsible for darkening the skin) is transferred to the surface of our skin cells to protect them from damage. Therefore, we get tanned in the areas that get exposed to the sun.

When you lift up your sleeve and realize that there is a difference in your skin tone, you will start applying anything and everything that claims to get rid of your sun tan. But are you sure that is healthy for your skin? No matter how much these products claim that they are “organic” and are made from “natural” products, they are chemically infused to cut production cost and increase shelf life.

Natural Remedies to get rid from Tanning

Lemon Juice


Lemon juice is a natural bleaching agent and can help lighten the tan on your skin. Mix equal parts lemon juice and water, and apply it to the tanned areas. Leave it on for 15-20 minutes before rinsing it off.

Aloe Vera




Aloe Vera is a natural skin moisturizer and has a soothing effect on sunburnt or tanned skin. Extract fresh aloe Vera gel from a leaf and apply it to the tanned areas. Leave it on for 20-30 minutes before rinsing it off.

Yogurt




Yogurt contains lactic acid, which can help lighten the tan on your skin. Apply plain yogurt to the tanned areas and leave it on for 20-30 minutes before rinsing it off.

Tomato




Tomato has natural skin-lightening properties and can help remove a tan. Cut a tomato into slices and rub it on the tanned areas, or blend a tomato and apply the paste to the affected areas. Leave it on for 20-30 minutes before rinsing it off.

Gram flour and turmeric




Gram flour (Besan) and turmeric have natural skin-lightening properties and can help remove a tan. Mix together equal parts gram flour and turmeric with water to form a paste. Apply the paste to the tanned areas and leave it on for 20-30 minutes before rinsing it off.

Cucumber

Papaya

Sandalwood and rosewater
